Hockey Gold

The Americans got beat by the Canadians in the Gold Medal hockey game yesterday. And you know what? I’m totally fine with it.

Now, don’t get all “why do you hate America!?” on me. I was obviously cheering for Team USA, I just am completely fine with the fact that we lost.

And here’s why: Canadians needed a win.

I mean, come ON – they live in CANADA! The opening ceremonies tried to highlight the great things about Canada and came up with a supremely boring display of polar bears, ice drifts, whales and loneliness.

Hockey is basically the best thing going in Canada (aside from Mounties), and if we had beaten their national team – on their home ice, no less – country morale may have fallen to unfathomable depths. And, as an American, I already feel indirectly responsible for Canada being the oft-forgot middle sibling in North America, so letting them have this win is just fine with me.

So here’s to you, Canada. Way to be excellent at hockey.
